We started our trip to the Tuscan countryside today by meeting a van at Piazza Antonio Gramsci. Not sure how this Marxist got a piazza in Siena, but it was pretty cool.
We spent the morning in San Gimignano--a beautiful hill town with 14 towers still standing.
It was fun just wandering the town.
They also have a gelato store that has won two world championships. The ice cream was terrific!!
We spent the afternoon at wine tastings and lunch in Chianti and then more wine tasting in Montalcino. It was so beautiful--a great day.
Tomorrow we say goodbye to Siena and hello to Florence. We have loved Siena.
