Day 2: Wandering Sorrento, Art, & Soccer

We explored Sorrento today. It is really a beautiful town. Spent quite a bit of time overlooking the small harbor.

We went to two really great art shows today.  The first was a photo exhibit of Raffaele Celentano.  His work is fabulous.

Then we went to a gallery showing Edgardo Curcio. Hadn't heard of either of these artists, but both had stunning work.

The gallery with Curcio's work is in an old mansion.  Quite stunning.

We had a snack at noon and then ate dinner at a restaurant overlooking the sea.

The highlight of the day was the soccer match between Napoli and a team in the north called Udi.  The match was for the Italian championship.  Ever since we arrived there were flags and banners everywhere for the Naples team.

We watched the game in the main town square right by our hotel.  It was a tie game, but Naples only needed one goal to win the league.  Everyone went crazy at the end of the game.  It was really fun being part of the celebration.

A lovely day.
